Voting is open for finalists in the first round of the Leader Local Grants program.
The Berwick/Pakenham Leader has 14 finalists vying for a $1000 grant.
Finalists include Nossal High School, which hopes to start a breakfast program, Talbingo kindergarden – for toys and equipment – and Berwick “mumpreneur” Michelle Jankovic, who has applied for a grant to promote her Helping Hand Is Here online disability directory.
The mother of two, who was recently nominated for a 2012 AusMumpreneur Award, said she needed the funds to promote her disability survival organiser.
“Being a mother of a son with additional needs for nine years has helped me accumulate many, many resources,” she said.
“I started designing and refining a portable storage system because I needed something on me at all times, to have every record and every piece of information on hand.”
Leader Local Grants is unlike other community building initiatives in that you, the reads, decide where the money – $100,000 across all Leader mastheads over the next year – is spent.
In each round of funding, a $1000 grant is available for the project that readers believe most benefits the community.
Just go to the leaderlocalgrants.com.au to vote now.
Each registered reader gets 10 votes to be cast for the project or projects you think are most deserving.
