Kerryn is a busy mother of three children with additional needs and loving wife, who is busy caring for her family. Even though her own health is challenged on a daily basis.
Kerryn is a busy working mum who is diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Occupational Asthma and Dysphonia. COPD is an ongoing cough that produces a lot of mucus, resulting in shortness of breath, wheezing and chest tightness. Dysphonia is involuntary movements of one or more muscles of the larynx or voice box.
Kerryn’s eldest child has Major Childhood Depressive Disorder. This disorder can interfere with all aspects of a child’s life, resulting in absences from school and trouble socialising with peers. It is diagnosed about twice as often in girls than in boys.
Kerryn’s middle child is diagnosed with ASD, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, OCD and Depression. If two children with additional needs didn’t keep her busy, Kerryn’s youngest child is diagnosed with ASD, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, ADHD, Intellectual Disability and gastro problems. This makes her day a very busy one.
While Kerryn was caring for her three children with additional needs and looking after her own health concerns, a few years ago her husband was diagnosed with Bowel Disease and Seronegative Arthritis. He also has chronic pain and had a total knee replacement.
This super women explained how she is kept busy with healthcare appointments, check-ups, therapy sessions and operations which has resulted in paperwork up to her armpits.
